Dear Crosswalkers,

Happy HalloThanksMas! You've probably seen this familiar Holiday smashup word on face masks, t-shirts, and mugs. Due to a desire to start the holidays earlier, the three holidays have been merged into one this year.  We find ourselves wanting to celebrate big, yet we can't help but realize things will look different this year. And while large gatherings and food may not be this year's center of attention, the time we spend safely together will be priceless.

At Crosswalk, we understand that some of our church traditions may have to be set aside in order to meet the needs of the many (hidden Star Trek reference). HOWEVER, there is one tradition that will never be set aside, pandemic, or not. The commitment of giving to our local mission partners who are striving to fulfill a variety of needs in our community. Thank you Crosswalk family for your generous giving to Faith Promise Missions. This Sunday you can look forward to receiving our missions info folder that was never distributed in March!

Here are four local mission partners we look forward to working with this holiday season:
  • The Refuge (a ministry in Sunnyvale to the homeless & low income households):
    • Volunteer on November 7 or December 5 to distribute pre-packaged meals at Murphy Park (4:45pm)
    • Contribute a $20 Target card for personal needs
  • Help One Child (serving children and families in foster care) website
    • Donate here for Help One Child's Annual Christmas Giving Tree gifts for foster children
    • Contribute a $25 Walmart or Target card for foster families
  • CIC (Correctional Institutions Chaplaincy - Elmwood Jail) website
    • Make a financial donation to Crosswalk to be used for the purchase of one or more cases of Bibles for the jail ($70 per case of 16 or $4.50 per Bible).
  • Servant Partners (serving a low income neighborhood in downtown San Jose) website
    • Make a donation to Crosswalk for this San Jose ministry which includes food distribution, church services, youth ministry, English classes, and legal and pastoral counseling.
Gift cards and checks made out to Crosswalk Church can be brought to any of our Outdoor Services, or you can contact me. Online donations for any of these organizations can be made here on our website - make sure to designate who you would like your gift to go to. And, as always, any general contributions will go to supporting all of our missionaries.
How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who brings good news,
the good news of peace and salvation,
the news that the God of Israel reigns!
Isaiah 52:7 (NLT)

Here at Crosswalk, we continue this weekend in our series COMMUNITY COUNTS. This week's message comes from James 1:18-27, and the message is called, A Community of the Book. Here we will look at how our sense of identity as a community of people who trust in God's truth can make a powerful difference in dealing with pain and trouble and challenging times!
I hope you are able to attend either in person or online! Register here for the 9:30am or 11:00am service.

See you soon,
Pastor Linda

A reminder about our "Trunk or Treat" event on Halloween for preschool and elementary kids. Families, remember to register! Only 40 guests will be admitted for each 30 minute time slot, and they are filling up! If you would like to volunteer between 5:00-7:00pm, contact Pastor Peggy, and don't forget to bring candy, candy, candy
