What a great day we had last Sunday as we kicked off our Faith Promise Missions emphasis. We featured 12 local mission partners who join us to reach our community with the love and grace of Jesus. It’s amazing that a church our size can do so much. The impact we are having for the kingdom of God is beyond measure.
And it isn’t over!
This Sunday we will focus on our international missionaries. We will have a special presentation from our newest mission partner, International Justice Missions. Then our speaker will be former Associate Pastor here at Crosswalk, Jerry Ingalls. Jerry served here for many years, and received his call to ministry here. He began by taking leadership of our men’s ministry, then became our school’s P.E. Coach and Vice-Principal. He was promoted to Principal and in his last year with us was our Associate Pastor. He has since been called to be the pastor of First Baptist Church in New Castle, Indiana. Jerry will be speaking from the perspective of one who knows all about the promise and power of Faith Promise missions.
Here is the concept in a nutshell: God wants to reach the world with his love and mercy. It all began when God called Abraham, and gave him this promise: “All the families on earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:3). Our Lord gave us our marching orders in the Great Commission: “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:18b-19). God wants to provide for his people to reach all the nations of the earth, and so we make Faith Promises.
WHAT IS A FAITH PROMISE?
Faith Promise is an agreement between you and God. You promise, by faith, to give a certain amount of money to the cause of local and world missions through Crosswalk. It is a promise you make by faith that God will provide additional funds into your hands so you can give to missions. In other words, we trust that God will use us as channels to support the greatest endeavor in the history of the world, the spread of the gospel! PLEASE BEGIN TO PRAY ABOUT YOUR FAITH PROMISE FOR THE NEXT YEAR!!
IS A FAITH PROMISE A PLEDGE?
NO. You will never be asked to “make good” on your Faith Promise. If God provides, you give! If God doesn’t provide you don’t give. There is absolutely no pressure on you. But we do hope you will follow the biblical admonition to “watch and pray” for God to provide. There is a great joy that comes from giving to the GREATEST ENDEAVOR IN HISTORY!
WHERE IS CROSSWALK IMPACTING THE WORLD?
So Crosswalk has our graceful tentacles of grace and truth in places like Bhutan and other nations in South Asia (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh) through my ministry there with Peter Pereira (Hope for Today) and ILI (International Leadership Institute); in Liberia through AHEAD ministries and Oscar James; in Indonesia and beyond with Al Vom Steeg and ILI; in Iran with Hormoz Shariat and Iran Alive Ministries; in the Philippines with Rosemary Sellen, Linda Jackson and Michael Aboganda and Doorway to Hope; in Nepal with Antonio and Graciela Chavez; and in Paraguay with Walter Vega and the REMAR prison ministry; and in China and many African nations with Marty Hooper (International Evangelism Ministry).
Again at noon we will have our annual INTERNATIONAL POTLUCK MEAL! This is a highlight each year as we enjoy food from all around the globe courtesy of the international community that is Crosswalk! Please, bring a dish of your favorite international food to share! Andrew or his designee will be in the kitchen anytime Sunday morning to receive food. The meal begins at noon! This is one of the many great traditions we have at Crosswalk and encourage you to be a part of it.
Love in Jesus,
P.S. One of Crosswalk’s new partners, the FILL MY CUP support network will be meeting on March 5, from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Sister Ethel Sturgis is the leader of this ministry and the guest speaker is Mabelle Bong of the YMCA Silicon Valley. She will be speaking on eliminating racism and empowering women.
