Crosswalk “Tru Kids” Follow A Path Of Spiritual Formation!

We are delighted to have your child attend our Children’s programs. The fact that you bring your children to church is a testimony that you want your family to put God first, at the beginning of your week. We desire to be partners with you on your child’s spiritual journey.

At Crosswalk our Children’s Ministry follows a path by using a resource called Tru. Tru is a dynamic, spiritually forming, and family-empowered ministry philosophy that offers a vibrant weekend curriculum, as well as other family resources.  Tru is uniquely created to inspire, equip, and support parents and church leaders in their ministry to children.  Tru provides families with materials to help them connect as a family and grow together spiritually.

Tru is about “THE BIG GOD STORY”. We define the Big God Story as God’s entire story. It incorporates all of history, stretching from Genesis to Revelation and beyond. Other Christian instruction has told fragmented stories of God, Jesus and other people in the Bible, as if they were part of a narrative. Tru communicates each Bible story with the context of The Big God Story, so the Bible becomes much more than just a collection of short stories. Each lesson is centered on God and how He works in our lives. Tru helps kids understand that God has woven His redemptive plan throughout time and we want kids to understand that they not only play a part in this incredible story, but are also part of a much larger faith community of past, present, and future believers.

TRU BLESSINGS – Preschool Ages 2-3 Years Old (10:35 service only)

Children begin church with their parents as a family.  During the greeting time, bring your children to the lobby where their teachers will escort them to Rm #3. Or, if you prefer, you may check in your child at the nursery before services begin.

Key Highlights:

Repetition- Each part of The Big God Story is repeated for two weeks utilizing large group storytelling techniques and small group activities each week

Interactive- Children use their senses to explore God’s Word through a variety of touch, see, listen, and move activities and visuals

Chronological- Follows The Big God Story meta-narrative

Remember & Celebrate- On the 13th weekend of every quarter we remember the three foundational truths and celebrate who God is

Worship- Children worship through music provided with TruBlessings and encouraged in the home as well

Environments- Lessons are not written in any one of the 10 environments, but the parent components will land heavily on the environments and how to create them in the home.

Best of all TruBlessing begins in the home with a resource we provide called “HomeFront Weekly.”

TRU WONDER – Preschool Ages 4-Kindergarten (10:35 service only)

Children begin church with their parents as a family.  At the greeting time, bring your children to the lobby where their teachers will escort them to Rm #5.

TruWonder is designed to reveal the WONDER of who God is allowing them to…

Explore- Explore stations create space intended for wonder – to pique children’s curiosity and allow them to engage in hands-on experiences as they begin their time of worship.

Discover- Children move into a large group setting and participate in discovering God’s Word through storytelling, worship and interactive experiences.

Respond- Children have the opportunity to respond to God and to what they have heard and experienced through His Word. Special attention is given to create space for the Holy Spirit to minister to each child.

Blessing- A blessing can be a prayer, a scripture, or words of encouragement and guidance. A blessing can be offered in order to ask God’s Spirit to overflow from the child’s life in such a way that blesses others, while it can also be prayed over a child for the purpose of declaring God’s protection, joy or wisdom.

TRU STORY – Elementary Age Children

Anticipate- An energizing time for kids to start engaging with the material that will be presented in the lesson. Intentionally designed to spark curiosity and cultivate a sense of awe and wonder about God.

Celebrate- Kids get to be a part of the community of God’s family. They participate in traditions and share them with newcomers, connect through fun and interaction, and experience The Big God Story through storytelling.

Respond- This is a time for kids to worship through silence, giving, singing, sharing, thanksgiving, and many other ways.

Be Blessed- A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words of encouragement or guidance.
